Ok, so here is a little history on my gas tank. Its off of my 96 cbr F3. Its my project bike Im working on at the moment. When I took a look inside the gas tank the first day I brought it home, there was a TON of rust, old gasoline, and grime. I removed the petcock with its decomposing filter and drained the tank. I then sprayed a bunch of of carb cleaner thinking it would remove rust …. ha ha ha , Im a idiot. SO i found that vinegar removes rust, I did the vinegar thing (5 gallons topped off the tank, let it sit overnight, and it was spotless. Although a lot of rust came back because I didnt nuteralize the acid “vinegar”. Rather then getting more gallons of vinegar, I found a chemical called EVAPORUST. It didnt need to be nuteralized after use, its reusable, it biodegratable and it doesnt harm paint. Plus, after draining the tank, if you let the residual fluid air dry, it will leave a coating that will prevent rust for about 2 weeks. I was sold on it. I only spent for a gallon of the stuff. After rinsing out all the vinegar residue, I sealed off all the openings on the gas tank with duct tape. I then poured the EVAPORUST in and let it sit for an hour. After an hour I noticed that it was working REALLY well. I then turned the gas tank onto its side for another hour. I kept switching the tanks position every hour for a few hours to make sure I covered every inch of the tank. I then drained the fluid back into the container and found that the rust no longer remained …

Sweet, im glad you found it too. Yeah its really simple. After I drained it into a buckey, I ran some gasoline in it, swished it around and drained it again into a separate bucket. After doing that like twice, I put some more “evaporust” in it, swished it around, drained it , then let the tank air dry. By letting it air dry it allows the residual evaporust make a coating on the tank, after its dry enough, put it back on your tank, filler up, and enjoy the ride
I’m glad I found this video. Can I get this stuff at a local home depot or lowes? How did you make sure all the rust flakes were out of the tank once you were done. Is it really as easy as just shaking it out? Do you think I could just run some gas in the tank as swish it around? lol
With the evaporust stuff, no. Or at least thats what it says on the bottle. The label in the back says that after youI drain the chemical out of the tank, all you gotta do is let the tank air dry and it will have a slight film inside that acts as a sealer. I did that , and havent had any rust problems since.
cool, so no sealing necessary afterwards?
ha ha, Thanks. Rust = Brown Metal Flakes, which over time can build up and become Heavy Metal Flakes, thus = HEAVY METAL !!! MUAH HA HA HA HA HA . lol. Thanks for the comment homie.
whats up with the heavy screamo??? is removing rust really that intense? lol not being a dick, just thought it was funny. good job!
